Meet Kalik, a playful 6-year old Poodle. His human parents brought him in because he started limping after playing at the dog park last week. His left hind leg that started presenting this problem and the limping continued for the next 5 days. After not seeing any improvement, they decided to bring him in to Miami Veterinary Specialists. He was seen by Dr. Sarah Evans, one of our ACVS Board-Certified surgeons.

After carefully discussing the surgical and non-surgical options for Kalik with his parents, it was decided that the best option was to perform a TPLO (tibial-plateau-leveling osteotomy) surgery. A TPLO surgery is performed on dogs to stabilize the stifle joint after ruptures of the cranial cruciate ligament.

Here is a little peek of Kalik during and after his surgery! Thanks to Dr. Evans and her wonderful certified veterinary technician, Anthony, Kalik is going back home today. He is looking good and we hope his recovery will be a quick one.
