Dr. Steven SuterVMD, MS, PHD, DACVIM
After completing an undergraduate degree in biology/chemistry, Dr.Suter left the academic arena to explore other job opportunities, including being a musician, commercial oil rig diver, and yacht electrician. After those short stints, Dr. Suter earned an MS in biochemistry at The New York Medical College in Valhalla, NY. Shortly after, he fulfilled one of his lifelong dreams when accepted into The University of Pennsylvania School of Veterinary Medicine in 2001. As a result, he got into the VMD/Ph.D. program.
He earned a Ph.D. in Cellular and Molecular Biology in the laboratory of Dr. Paula Henthorn in the Section of Medical Genetics at the Veterinary School. During this time, he also studied bone marrow transplantation and veterinary oncology, which eventually led him to pursue a residency in Medical Oncology at UC Davis.
Afterward, he practiced veterinary medicine in private practice. Shortly after, he accepted a position in Medical Oncology at NC State and pursued research and other clinical interests. Today he’s a traveling doctor leading the Oncology Department at MVS.
